Sawmill Bioscan - Trimmer & Edger Defect Scanning

CNM's Sawmill BioScan delivers proven grade and recovery performance based on visual defect detection, rules based classification and highly accurate geometric measurements.

Improved Uptime
Sawmill BioScan increases machine center uptime by identifying large cracks that result in breakage. Edging to high profile narrows or trimming to shorter wides to eliminate the crack reduces handling risks downstream. Independent geometric and BioScan modules allows controlled migration from time-tested geometric scanning to the world of BioScanning.

BioScan for the Transverse Edger Optimizer

BioScan GuiIncorporate the BioScan defect scanning functionality into your new or existing Newnes Transverse Optimizer. Edger grade extraction provides value through re-manufacture or rip based on the ultimate grade of wood. For example, a #3 appearance due to knots can be edged to #3 wane with confidence, thereby maximizing recovery. Likewise, a low grade 2x8 may be worth more as two 2x4's, one of them being high grade.

BioScan for the Trimmer Optimizer

Trimmer grade extraction lets you cut-in-two allowing a short, high grade piece without trim loss. "Candidate" trim stockmeeting specified characteristics for wane, knots and splits can be targeted and sorted/routed differently for further unique action downstream in the process. For example, by sorting for grade at the trimmer you can take advantage of more efficient drying cycles for high grade products.
